Dance with the Dead

The abandoned Coopers Cross WW2 airfield near the village of Morton Fendle continues to hold attractions for many of the villagers. Simon Bright, a local young man, is found dead in his old car at the site, apparently having used its exhaust fumes to carry out a suicide pact with his girlfriend, Laura Sharp. But she is nowhere to be found. As Barnaby and Jones fear the worst for her, they have to unravel her many tangled relationships, in order to find out what has happened to her, and identify the killer amongst the villagers.

The Animal Within

The Kings Crystal

King's Crystal, a glassware factory in Midsomer Magna, faces ruin following the death of its co-owner Alan King. His widow, Hilary, angers her son Ian by marrying Alan's brother Charles, and rumours circulate that Charles and accountant Peter Baxter embezzled funds. When Peter is stabbed to death with a Masonic dagger and Ian starts behaving strangely after finding his father's sketchbook, Barnaby is called. But the answer lies in Cully's new production.

The Axeman Cometh

UK Broadcast Date: 2 Feb 07

When old rockers Hired Gun reform to play a gig at the Midsomer Rocks Festival, paranoid lead singer Gary Cooper is convinced someone is trying to warn them off. First rock diva Mimi Clifton is electrocuted on stage, then drummer Nicky Harding is found dead in the swimming pool. Barnaby has to face the possibility that one of his rock 'n' roll heroes is a murderer.

Cully meets her future husband in this episode, Simon Dixon, played by actor Sam Hazeldine (son of the late James Hazeldine who appeared in 'A Talent for Life'). Sam Hazeldine will now become one of the main cast in the series as the wedding between he and Cully shall be filmed in the summer of 2007, an episode of Series 11.

Death and Dust

When Dr Alan Delaney is killed by a hit and run driver, Barnaby realises the real target was Delaney's senior partner, Dr James Kirkwood. Is the killer trying to prevent James from marrying beautiful divorcee Delyth Mostyn? And how is his death linked to £30,000 which is missing from the surgery accounts? Barnaby and Jones must travel to Snowdonia to unravel the truth.

A Picture of Innocence

Rivalry between traditional film photographers and digital camera fans in the village of Luxton Deeping reaches fever pitch at the annual photographic society exhibition when snapper Steve Bright threatens black and white film enthusiast Lionel Bell. Lionel is photographing his favourite oak trees in Luxton Wood when he is strangled with the cord from his light meter. A memory card from a digital camera is found in his mouth.

A new version of 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' is being shot in Midsomer Magna, but the atmosphere off the set rivals the battles of the film. Producer Jack Braxton and director Nick Cheyney hate each other, manor house owners Terence and Diane Charteris are broke and their marriage is on the rocks, while there's a painful history between their daughter Leonie and Cheyney. DCI Barnaby and DS Jones get interested in events when they tail known thief George Ince to a meeting at the manor with Jed Norris, another ex-con. They are amazed to discover Norris is employed there as a security guard.

Death In A Chocolate Box

Reformed criminal Ronnie Tyler prepares to leave Midsomer Holm, a tranquil village and halfway house founded by Lord Holm and detective-turned-psychotherapist Professor Gina Colby. At the heart of the village is an historic camera obscura. New arrival Eddie Marston takes Ronnie's place, which DCI Barnaby is uneasy about. Meanwhile Gina's husband Jack, a former DS at Causton, is having trouble sleeping, haunted by the past.
